Close to 40 people, kids and adults alike, answered our call to help clean up the rail trail on Wed. April 22, 2009!
As with last years clean up, this year did not disappoint the children in their treasure hunt-like adventure.Together, we picked up close to 13 large orange bags of trash!
Here are just a few of the things our group picked up along the old tracks:
- bike tires and one call tire
- 3 chairs
- a Little Tykes basketball hoop
- a fake plant
- buckets
- a shoe
- bottles & cans
- wrappers and all other types of trash

Cleaning up is not just for the community but for our personal living spaces as well. Having a clean living space does not have to take a toll on the environment. Harsh chemicals not bring out strong smell but these can also be hazardous to our health. Aside from that, these can be mixed with the air that and other living organism breathe. In little ways, we can help minimize the effect of cleaning chemicals and other environmental hazards by opting for 'green' products. Keeping things in order is needed even in our closets, bathrooms as well as our place of work. In relation to this, I also read a great piece regarding cleaning at:

If we are to expect the future generations to experience clean air and abundant forests, we need to show that we care even in small gestures like having our papers shredded to be used for other purposes.
